Upper Blackrock Spire commonly referred to as UBRS is a sprawling 10-man instance locked away within the Blackrock Mountains. Similar to Blackwing Lair BWL , Blackrock Spire was once one of the strongest strongholds for the Dark Iron Dwarves. However, it has a new owner. The nefarious Nefarian now controls it and is using it as a staging ground to amass his army. The upper level is designed for ten players inside of a raid that are all above level fifty-seven. The upper level contains a wealth of gear and wow gold that is needed for Molten Core along with the ability to complete quests related to the attunement for Onyxia’s Lair and BWL.
To enter the Upper Spire, use the same entrance as the Lower Spire and follow the left wall as you enter. You will ascend a small flight of stairs and into a hall with smaller side chambers. Each chamber is filled with mobs and a small glowing rune. Defeating the mobs in a chamber will deactivate a rune and once each has faded, a double door at the back of the hall will open.
Like LBRS, you start at the instance entrance and clear a few mobs. Instead of going down and to the right, however, you'll be going up and to the left to UBRS. Go up the ramp and use the Seal of Ascension on the door. You'll come to a room with bigger groups of elite mobs, which you'll clear one group at a time before continuing up to the left.
After all the mobs are cleared, a door will automagically open,leading up to Pyroguard Emberseer. He's being held prisoner by several guards, who will attack you when you activate the Altar of Flame. They're non-elites and easy to AoE. Once they're dead, the Emberseer will wait a few seconds and then attack you before dying a quick death with 15 people beating on him. If you have the quest "Agent of Hydraxis" from Duke Hydraxis' Molten Core quest line, you'll complete it here.
The Rookery is the site of three quests: "Egg Freezing," "Egg Collection," and "Doomrigger's Clasp." The first two can usually be done after the Rookery event; Doomrigger's Clasp can also be done after defeating General Drakkisath at the end of the run, as there's a shortcut from his lair back a ledge in Rookery that leads to the quest item.
In the rear right of the Rookery is a ramp leading further into the instance. You'll have to do a few pulls before moving into the next room, where Goraluk Anvilcrack resides. You can actually skip him, but high-level blacksmiths may need to clear him for special profession items.
After Anvilcrack's room, you'll approach Blackrock Stadium. You may hear the raid discuss "jump or clear?" It's possible to go up the ramp and jump down into the stadium, skipping a few pulls, but it's an easy way to wipe the raid if people aren't paying attention and drop down too soon or too late.
